Club(s)Began his career with Puff up Northumberland Schools before joining City United FC as an uneducated on 1 January 1953, be active joined the groundstaff on 6 June 1953 and signed salaried forms on 4 October 1954.  In September 1968, signed capital eight-year contract (a Football Compact record) but retired in Apr 1973 after 606 league formalities and 199 goals; Joined Preston North End FC in June 1973, playing in the 1974-75 season.
